In the month of July, our new Faith Word is BELONGING. This Sunday we will learn about the story of “Mephibosheth”(2 Samuel 9:1-13). Join us!

We will not have sign-ups for 9:30 Sunday School during the Summer due to lower attendance. Come when you can! Nursery will be available at BOTH 9:30 and 11:00 services. No Sunday School at 11:00. We have clipboards outside the sanctuary available for kids attending worship.

Kids will now attend their Sunday School classes according to their grade level for next year. Here are the room assignments for the summer:

  • Birth-Prekindergarten: Nursery in Fellowship Hall
  • Kindergarten & 1st Grade: LL-31 in Children’s Wing
  • 2nd & 3rd Grade: LL29 in Children’s Wing
  • 4th & 5th Grade: LL-32 in Children’s Wing
  • 6th-8th Grade: LL-4
  • 9th-12th Grade: LL-6

REMINDER: If you have a 3rd, 4th or 5th grader that has a Deep Blue Bible, please help them remember to bring it with them to Sunday school each week! We don’t have many extras of that particular version at the church and they will be looking up and reading scripture every time they come to church from now on.

If you haven’t checked your child’s information on the birthday post from December 29th, please make sure you do so as soon as possible. I have marked it as an announcement so you can easily find it. Blessings to you and your children,

Celebrate Wonder is a Sunday school curriculum that engages children’s natural sense of curiosity to help them understand God’s love. It creates a safe environment for kids to ask big questions — helping them explore the Bible in ways that feed their imagination and encourages creativity. Through carefully-selected Bible stories, songs, videos, and hands-on activities, Celebrate Wonder gives children the tools to explore their faith while incorporating it into their daily lives.

July Faith Word

Each month, our weekly stories will align with a Faith Word. The Faith Word for the month of July is, “Belong”.

Bible Story Preview

In this week’s Bible story, we learn about Mephibosheth. What a name! King Saul was David’s enemy. It was common for new kings to kill the relatives of the old king. Jonathan was King Saul’s son and was a close friend of David’s. David pledged to Jonathan before Jonathan died that he would care for any of Jonathan’s family. Mephibosheth was Jonathan’s son and King Saul’s grandson. King David fulfilled the promise he had made to Jonathan by restoring family land to Mephibosheth and having Mephibosheth eat with him each night. David made sure that Mephibosheth felt like he belonged at the table with him.

David gave Mephibosheth a place to belong. Children can understand that friends and family are important and that when we share, invite, and include, we are helping everyone belong in God’s family. One spiritual gift a child might have is being a good friend or finding ways to include others. Help children see these gifts in themselves and in their friends. God invites all people to the table, and so should we.

Spiritual Practice for Adults

This week, set a table in your home. Make it beautiful and inviting. Set out your best  plates and fanciest glasses, and maybe even have flowers. Sit at your table and pray. Touch each item you have laid out, and thank God you have a table where you can eat. After you have spent some time in prayer, invite your family and friends to share a meal with you. Intentionally set each place at the table for your special guests. Thank God that you have a table where everyone belongs.
