Our Work Is Not Completed

Before I retired from pastoral ministry a man came to see me. He said, “You can’t retire. Your work is not done. Many people I encounter every day have not yet embraced the Good News. They do not even know who Jesus is.”

“What do you mean?” I inquired.

“I just came from Memorial City Mall”, he exclaimed. “I went there to buy a small silver cross for my wife for our anniversary. When I told the young sales clerk what I wanted she asked, ‘Do you want one with a little man on it, or one with no little man?’ I tell you preacher, there are people out there who have never gotten the message.”

But we don’t have to be a pastor to tell the story of Jesus. It is the responsibility of every believer to be a witness. We are all his representatives.
